Carl Shapiro is the President and Managing Principal of Avidar Environmental, and has been a practicing Licensed Site Professional (LSP) in Massachusetts since the regulatory program’s inception in 1993.
Avidar and its LSP have provided professional services in a pro bono arrangement for the Town of Needham, providing third-party LSP oversight of a property that was one of several former Nike Missile Sites in NE, monitoring assessment, remediation and site closure.
Avidar’s President, Carl Shapiro, has continued to play a leadership role in working with MassDEP, regulators and business leaders in the continuing evolution of a Licensed Site Professional in Massachusetts, and served as President of the LSP Association in 2008-09.
In his continued professional community support activities, he also served as Asst. Chair of the Needham Conservation Commission from 2004 – 2010, and as a Commissioner from 1993.
Mr. Shapiro has brought novel and effective technical and regulatory solutions to the industry of Facility Environmental Management for clients throughout the Northeast United States. Early in his career, as an R&D Senior Scientist, he was awarded patents for two inventions for Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry.
